When the summer heat hits, all you want to do is stay inside with the fan cranked on high or the air con on really cold. We don’t blame you. The summer heat can really have an impact on your energy and your motivation to do anything. However, there are ways to get your energy levels up and stay healthy during the summer. Let’s take a look at some tips that can help you stay healthy and active during the hot summer days.

Go to the pool

Is it hot out? Wish you could jump into a cold pool? Then do it! Going to the pool on a hot summer day is a great way to stay cool and active. You can swim laps or do an aerobics class at your local indoor or outdoor pool. Enjoy a summer’s day without sitting on your couch watching tv. Going to the pool is not only a great way to keep in shape for the summer but it also is just a lot of fun!

Take advantage of the summer fruit

It’s summer and this means you have a market full of fresh seasonal fruit waiting to be eaten. Load up on watermelon and strawberries as they’re only here for the season. Eating these fruits will not only keep you away from the sugary store-bought popsicles but they’ll keep your waistline nice and trimmed as well. You can also make homemade popsicles with all the fresh seasonal fruit. If you like snacking, try freezing your grapes - they turn into little fruit candies but without the added preservatives and sugar.

Stay hydrated

This one is extremely important. You may not feel like drinking a glass of water because you’re so lethargic and hot, however, it’s very important to stay hydrated. Keeping hydrated will also help regulate your body temperature so that you don’t overheat. If you have problems remembering to drink water, carry around a water bottle with you so that you know you have to finish it before it gets warm.

Summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors and get a healthy, glowing tan. Follow these steps and you will stay well on your path of healthy living.
