So I’m in my bathroom today to answer some questions about tooth care. I get lot of questions on this topic such as, "Tyler can we remineralise our teeth? How can we prevent our teeth from going bad?” Here’s my suggestions on how to take care of your teeth and oral care in general.
How Do Our Teeth Lose Minerals?
When the body is acidic it actually takes minerals from the bones and teeth to restore the alkaline balance. So the best prevention is to stay in an alkaline state of health with lots of fresh fruits and greens galore that hydrate and alkalise the body as well as providing minerals, phytonutrients and antioxidants. Keeping the four channels of elimination open also helps keep you in an alkaline state of health. As a reminder they are defecation, urination, perspiration, respiration. You know, breathing, sweating, peeing and pooping well basically ;)
Himalayan sea salt has 84-86 minerals in it. I recommend taking a pinch of this in water everybody to help boost the mineral content in the body.
Oil Pulling Is The First Thing In My Oral Care Routine
The first thing when I do when I wake up in the morning is something called ‘oil pulling’. It’s an ancient Ayurvedic technique for extracting toxins from our bodies through the mouth which is naturally really good for the gums and the teeth, and will give you good breath. I use coconut oil and hold it in my mouth for about 15-20 minutes just while I wake up and get going. Then brush your teeth with a natural toothbrush and use a tongue scraper. I mainly use my tongue scraper during fasting when I get extra ‘stuff’ coming out, but to do it on a daily basis can be helpful and it actually helps miles more toxins to come out.
You could even try adding a couple of drops of clove oil to your coconut oil. Clove oil is great for tooth pain if you don't take painkillers. It’s absolutely brilliant stuff for getting rid of bacteria and killing parasites and their eggs and one of the highest sources of antioxidants, in that it goes beyond what you could ever get in foods in just a couple of drops.
If you have issues with the gums omega oil is great along the gum line to help with any any contact issues or soreness. Gargling with Himalayan sea salt and really rinsing it around your mouth will kill any bacteria causing gum problems too.
Make Your Own Natural Tooth Powder And Tooth Whitening Mouthwash
I make my own tooth powder using bicarbonate soda, a little bit of really fine salt (which you grind in a mortar and pestle) and essential oils - clove oil, tea tree oil, eucalyptus and mint oil are all great. I like using peppermint and spearmint. They taste really good and freshen your breath, people will gather around just to smell your breath it's fantastic!
I actually switch around from using my own tooth powder to maybe something like Thieves Young Living Essential Oils amazing toothpaste.
I also use hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as a mouthwash to help kill bad bacteria and help whiten my teeth. I have 35% food grade H2O2 which you need just 5-6 few drops in a shot glass size of water to make a mouthwash. As you swish it around you can actually feel it bubbling which is an invigorating experience.
Activated Charcoal - The Most Profound Thing I’ve Discovered
The most profound thing I think I’ve discovered recently is activated charcoal. It’s very high in minerals and I've been brushing my teeth once a day with this [in the video I give a demo on how to do this - it’s VERY pretty!]. According to the research that I’ve looked into it locks the minerals inside the teeth, has the ability to repair and is also highly detoxifying.
A couple years ago I actually cracked a tooth chewing on a date that still had a pit inside and had to have a filling. Over time and distance when they did that filling there was a little spot where it was starting to get black and create another cavity. I started brushing with charcoal three times a day especially in that spot and flossing. Within one week the blackness and everything completely cleared up and went back to white! There was not an issue whatsoever!! It’s obviously pulling out a lot of toxins. I’ve got to say I’m really on to the activated charcoal at the moment. I think it's a great way to go.
Take good care your teeth. You’re gonna need 'em for a very very very long time. Especially if you follow me and the things I teach, you’ll be existing for at least the next, you know, six hundred years or so.
